Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-09-22
In short
By downloading or using Browther ("the browser"), you accept these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Browther.
1. Publisher
Browther is published in a personal capacity by Karim Bouchez, under the author name dev&din. Contact: [email protected] (brothers) / [email protected] (sisters).
2. The service
Browther is a web browser for computers (macOS, Windows) and mobile (iPhone, Android), built on the open-source Brave browser. It blocks ads and trackers, blurs images and videos, and removes music from videos — locally, on your device.
Browther works without an account. Your bookmarks, your history and your settings stay on your device. On a computer, an optional dev&din account lets you find your months and your subscription on your other devices; it only holds this support.
3. Free, and the additional features
The essentials of Browther are free: browsing, blocking ads and trackers, and blurring images and videos. Removing music from videos is one of the additional features: they are free for one month, then you keep them by helping people close to you discover Browther (referrals), or by supporting the studio with a subscription.
dev&din ad spaces are the same for everyone, subscriber or not.
4. Referrals
Everyone gets a referral code. An invitation is confirmed once the person who entered that code has kept Browther as their default browser for three days. Each confirmed invitation adds one month of additional features, with bonus months at certain tiers and lifetime access from ten confirmed invitations. The invited person gets two months.
These months have no monetary value: they cannot be exchanged, transferred or resold. The program may change; a confirmation obtained through abuse may be refused.
5. The subscription
On iPhone and iPad. The subscription is bought in the App Store and paid with your Apple account, charged when you confirm the purchase. It renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged within the 24 hours before that date. Apple's standard license agreement (EULA) applies in addition to these terms.
Price. €2.99 per month or €29.99 per year, taxes included where applicable; in the App Store, the price shown in your currency prevails.
Cancelling. At any time, in your Apple account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions). It takes effect at the end of the period already paid: the features stay unlocked until then, and no new charge is made.
Refunds. For a purchase in the App Store, any request goes to Apple. For any other question: [email protected].
On a computer. The subscription is sold by Polar, an official reseller (merchant of record) named on the payment page, which collects the payment, issues the invoice and handles VAT; its terms apply in addition to these. It renews automatically at each due date. You can cancel it at any time from “Manage my subscription”, in Browther's Referrals screen: the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid.
What the subscription doesn't give. No removal of ad spaces, and no rights over Browther's code or content.
6. Acceptable use
- Don't use Browther for unlawful purposes.
- Don't bypass the additional features or the referral program by technical means.
- Don't reuse Browther's own name, logo or content without written permission.
7. Open source and ownership
Browther is built on Brave and Chromium, open-source software distributed under their own licenses (notably MPL-2.0 for Brave); the Browther code derived from them is published under the same license. Browther's own elements — name, logo, blurring models, texts, design — remain the property of the publisher.
8. Limits and liability
Blurring and music removal rely on automatic models running on your device: they may miss an image or let a sound through. Browther does not guarantee perfect filtering.
The browser is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it working, but cannot guarantee it will be free of interruptions or errors.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the publisher's liability is limited to direct and foreseeable damages.
9. Personal data
How your data is handled is described in our privacy policy.
10. Changes
These terms may change. The version in force is the one published at this address; continuing to use Browther after an update means you accept it.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law.
